Bay Area Birth Photography
capturing life's first moments.
The first birth I shot was in 2018. Kylee, a client of a few years, reached out and asked if I wanted to try out birth photography. While nervous, I figured it couldn't be much different than a regular shoot, right? Wrong. So so wrong. Most shoots don't have me crying behind the camera. Having never given birth at that point, I felt so many new feelings. What an absolutely amazing experience.
When I tell people I'm a birth photographer, people (mostly men) give me a weird look and ask why people want photos of their birth experience. Why wouldn't you? I have zero memory of my own birth stories. Everything happens so quickly, and so many hormones are coursing through your body. Photos help you remember the tiny moments.
I think when I'm done with wedding, if that ever happens, I'll just do birth photography. I'm honestly obsessed.
FAQ
How does it work?
At your 37 week mark, I'll keep my phone handy. When you start feeling contractions, you send me a text, and I'll pack my camera bag. Make sure to give your partner my phone number so they can call me when you're dilated to 5-7cm. That's when I'll drop my kids off at the sitters and head to your home or the hospital. I'll take photos upon arrival and stick around until that new bundle of joy is weighed and measured. I'll make sure to get a few photos of you cozied up together, then I'll get home to edit a few. As soon as possible, I'll send you a few sneak peeks for you to use as a birth announcement if you want!
That's it!
What exactly do you photograph?
Whatever you're comfortable with. I've shot births standing at mom's shoulder the whole time, and I've shot births from the doctor's perspective. I want the birthing person and their partner to feel comfortable with wherever I am. Just let me know what you want!
Will you share my photos publicly?
Any photos you see on my website are shared with permission from the parents. Sharing G or PG images on my website and socials is an important part of letting people know what I can offer. However, I will never share without your permission!
Do you include a maternity session?
Yes I do! When I was pregnant with my first, I felt like a lump until I got my photos back. That's when I realized how incredible my body was. I was literally making life inside my womb. Absolutely insane. Through someone else's eyes, I learned to see myself for the amazing being I was!
I want that for you. I want you to see how gorgeous you are as you're creating a human. Secondly, a maternity session gives us such a great chance to get to know each other before your birth. I want you to feel comfortable with me stepping into your birth zone. That's why I've chosen to include a maternity session in your birth package.
When can we expect our photos back?
1 week. Yes, I said it. I know how much you want to share these photos with your family. I'll also send you a few photos same day or the next, depending on the time of your birth.
Within a week, you'll receive an online gallery where you can view, download, share, and even order prints of your photos.
How do we book you?
We’re going to spend a lot of important time together, so I require meeting virtually or in person before booking to make sure we click. I promise this is for your protection! I want you to feel 100% comfortable with letting me into the most vulnerable moments of your life.
So fill out the contact form! Wait for my email (ping again if it's been more than a few days). Then we'll book a call!
Your day will be officially reserved when you have signed the contract and paid the first installment of 50% of the total birth package price.
